Fed: US trade deal has to benefit Australia - PM

Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD says a trade deal with the United States would only go ahead
if it's in Australia's interests.

The deadline for the finalisation of the free trade agreement is fast approaching,
but a number of key issues are remaining sticking points.

One of those issues is the protection of Australia's Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.
